Alobar1000 Hostel

Alobar1000 is a long-running backpacker hostel on a small side street at the northern edge of Thamel, Kathmandu's main traveller district. It offers both dormitory beds, typically in rooms of around six beds, and private rooms with their own bathrooms, which makes it a common base for budget travellers before and after treks.

The hostel is unusual for Thamel in having an outdoor pool, and it also has a terrace, a garden area, a bar and a restaurant serving Nepali, Indian and Western food. Dorm guests get free lockers and linen, and there is Wi-Fi, a small book library, luggage storage and a coworking area. The hostel can arrange paid airport pickups. Because it is set back from the main streets it is quieter than many Thamel guesthouses, while the shops, restaurants and trekking agencies of Thamel Chowk are a short walk away.
