Kathmandu Guest House by KGH Group

Kathmandu Guest House opened in 1968 in a former Rana family mansion and is one of the longest-running places to stay in Thamel, the neighbourhood that grew up around it into Kathmandu's main traveller district. The property sits in Saatghumti, in the heart of Thamel, and combines an older heritage building with newer wings set around large, walled gardens. Room types range from standard rooms to deluxe rooms, heritage suites and apartments.

On site there is a garden restaurant, a coffee shop, a pizzeria, a wellness centre with spa and gym, and yoga and sound-healing sessions. The grounds also house the Museum of Nepali Art and the Kathmandu Art House, an open studio for local artists. The Garden of Dreams and Kathmandu Durbar Square are within walking distance, and Tribhuvan International Airport is a short drive away. The hotel says airport pickup is free for international arrivals who book a Deluxe room or suite on its own website.
