Generator London

Generator London is a large budget hostel at 37 Tavistock Place in Bloomsbury, in a former police station near Russell Square. Accommodation runs from shared dormitories, including female-only dorms, to private twin rooms with shared or en-suite bathrooms and superior en-suite rooms. Dorm beds have lockers. Many rooms share bathrooms on the corridor, and recent guest reviews say some showers and toilets are dated. Reception is open 24 hours a day, and the hostel has free Wi-Fi, luggage storage and laundry facilities.

The hostel's social spaces are a bar with pool and arcade games, a separate shuffleboard room and a café-restaurant that serves breakfast and pub-style food. The bar is for guests aged 18 and over. The British Museum, the Charles Dickens Museum and University College London are a short walk away, as are the garden squares of Russell, Tavistock and Brunswick. Russell Square Underground station on the Piccadilly line is about five minutes' walk away and gives a direct route to Heathrow. King's Cross St Pancras, with its Tube lines and mainline and Eurostar services, is about 10 to 15 minutes away on foot.
