The Dwarika's Hotel

The Dwarika's Hotel is a heritage luxury hotel in Battisputali, on the eastern side of Kathmandu between the city centre and the airport, with Pashupatinath a short drive away. The buildings are arranged around brick courtyards and incorporate a large collection of carved Newari woodwork, including windows, pillars and beams salvaged from old Kathmandu Valley houses and restored by craftsmen in the hotel's own workshop. Rooms range from Heritage Deluxe rooms to large suites, each furnished individually and looking onto a courtyard.

The signature restaurant, Krishnarpan, serves Nepali tasting menus of six to 21 courses drawing on different regions, and there is also the all-day Toran, the Japanese restaurant Mako's and the Fusion Bar. Facilities include a pool inspired by the royal baths of the Malla kings, the Pancha Kosha Spa, a rooftop gym and a yoga pavilion. It is one of the most expensive stays in the city, so it suits travellers looking for a special-occasion or culture-focused stay.
